NEW YORK (AP) — With the cameras it uses to cover Congress shut off by the Republican-controlled House, C-SPAN is turning to social media feeds to beam live coverage of the House Democrat's sit-in to demand votes on gun control legislation. Two protesting representatives, Scott Peters of California and Beto O'Rourke of Texas, are providing footage of the sit-in through Periscope and Facebook, The nonprofit C-SPAN has decided to pick up those feeds.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congressman Chaka Fattah is offering his resignation from the House effective Oct. 3 following his conviction on charges of racketeering, fraud and money laundering. But House Speaker Paul Ryan is calling on Fattah to resign immediately. Ryan says the veteran Pennsylvania lawmaker betrayed the trust of the House and his constituents. The 59-year-old Democrat had been in Congress since 1995

CHICAGO (AP) — Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert is now in a federal prison in Minnesota. The 74-year-old Republican arrived at the prison in Rochester today to serve his 15-month sentence in a hush-money case involving revelations that he sexually abused at least four boys while a high school wrestling coach in Illinois. Hastert, who began using a wheelchair after falling ill last year, wheeled himself into the complex between razor-wire fencing.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Bernie Sanders is thinking about "Where we go from here." His presidential campaign says that's the theme of his news conference tomorrow in New York. Sanders, who hasn't formally left the presidential race or endorsed presumed nominee Hillary Clinton, acknowledged today that he's apparently not going to be the party's nominee.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The NHL will expand to Las Vegas for the 2017-18 season. The professional hockey league awarded its 31st franchise to billionaire businessman Bill Foley today. Foley is expected to pay $500 million to the NHL's other owners as an expansion fee. The still unnamed team will play in T-Mobile Arena, the $375 million building that opened just off the Las Vegas Strip in April.
