ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers starter Colby Lewis left his start against Cincinnati after five innings Tuesday night because of a cramping in his right arm.
The 36-year-old allowed three of the first four hitters to reach base capped by Jay Bruce's three-run homer. It was his first start since taking a perfect game into the eighth inning and a no-hitter into the ninth of a 5-1 win at Oakland.
Zack Cozart had a two-run triple in the fifth, and Lewis trailed 6-2 when he left the game with discomfort in his right triceps after throwing 68 pitches. He is off to the best start of his career, winning his first six decisions.
Lewis, who retired the first 23 batters against the Athletics, had a streak of 11 straight after Bruce's 16th homer.
