WALKER, La. (AP) — A former Livingston Parish high school teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Local news outlets report Walker Police Capt. John Sharp says in a statement that 33-year-old Lynsie Pousson Pendarvis of Livingston was arrested Thursday and charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Sharp says the week-long investigation began after authorities received information about an inappropriate relationship between Pendarvis and one of her male students at Walker Freshman High School.

Sharp says the teenager had told his parents about the sexual relationship.

Schools superintendent John Watson says Pendarvis submitted her resignation June 9. She had worked at the school for about two years.

It isn't immediately clear whether Pendarvis has an attorney.
