I love to hear the stories of businesses that have overcome obstacles to achieve success. During my recent visit with Pam March, I was delighted to discover that her floral shop, Every Blooming Thing, which started on "a wing and a prayer," has become a well-established company with two locations.

After going through some life-altering changes, Pam was looking for a way to support herself and her teenage daughter. A Salt Lake native, she returned to the city to open a floral shop. Prior to that time, she operated a floral shop in Ogden for eight years, which dissolved at the same time as her marriage. Pam opened Every Blooming Thing with high hopes and energy and minimal financial backing. However, the company has been so successful that it's now in its 33rd year of operation.

Every Blooming Thing offers a wide variety of products from beautiful floral arrangements to gift baskets. The shop doubles as an art gallery, and several successful local artists have held their first shows there. Pam has developed a cutting edge, push-the-envelope approach that her customers love with bouquets for occasions such as birthdays, weddings, sympathy or for no reason at all. Pam emphasizes that every piece is interesting and unique, which makes each arrangement a beautiful art piece. No recipe bouquets are made here.

One of the company's trademarks is arrangements known as topiaries, where the designers take long-stemmed flowers, bind them up and put the flowers in a clay pot with fresh flowers at the base. Topiaries come in many sizes and are a popular choice of Pam's clients.

Every Blooming Thing has also become a destination for beginning floral designers, including college interns. The experience gained in the shop is invaluable because it instills a strong sense of design and mechanics. The business has grown every year since it opened, which Pam says can be attributed to hard work and dedication. Her intention was never to be a large company but to be good at what she does. She hopes to continue offering only the highest quality, service and product.
