HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Hamburg says it has signed Gambian refugee Bakery Jatta on a three-year contract.
Jatta turned 18 a week ago, which allowed him to sign a professional deal. He already had been training with the first team.
Jatta fled his homeland in 2015 and arrived in northern Germany via Italy. He joined a football academy in Bremen, and convinced Hamburg's staff to trial him.
He can play in several attacking positions. Jatta says he had never played in a club before.
