PARIS (AP) — Police in France say the man who attacked and killed two police officials outside Paris had a past conviction for terrorism, tied to the Pakistan jihad. Last night, a knife-wielding attacker stabbed an off-duty senior police officer and his partner, a woman police official. The couple's 3-year-old son was unharmed, and the attacker, identified as 25-year-old Larossi Abbala, was killed in a police raid.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Thousands of people gathered last night in downtown Orlando, Florida for a vigil to support the victims and survivors of Sunday morning's shooting rampage at a gay club in the city. Forty-nine people were killed and dozens of others were wounded when authorities say 29-year-old Omar Mateen opened fire. Mateen was eventually shot and killed by police.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Law enforcement officials have issued an Amber Alert for three young children from Idaho, believed to be traveling with a suspected child molester. Ten-year-old Lewis Dunn, 9-year-old Kaylee Dunn and 6-year-old Kaydn Simon were last seen in Sparks, Nevada, on Sunday. Law enforcement officials believe they're traveling with their mother, Sarah Joy VanOcker-Dunn and her boyfriend, 37-year-old Jason "Travis" Simon, who's accused in a child porn investigation.
MIAMI (AP) — Eight dolphins that have spent their lives at the National Aquarium in Baltimore will be retired to a seaside sanctuary. The National Aquarium plans to move its dolphins into a protected habitat by the end of 2020, and officials are still deciding on a location. Aquarium CEO John Racinelli says they're exploring potential sites in the Florida Keys and the Caribbean. The dolphins will still be monitored with a full-time staff.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Stairway to Heaven," stolen? Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant are expected to testify in a lawsuit that accuses them of copying the riff from the 1971 hit. The suit alleges that Stairway to Heaven" copies music from the song "Taurus," which was written by guitarist Randy Wolfe from the band Spirit in 1966 or 1967. Wolf died in 1997.
