ZURICH (AP) — FIFA has cleared Chelsea and Mohamed Salah of breaking contract rules when the Egypt midfielder joined Roma on loan.

FIFA says its disputes panel rejected a complaint filed by Fiorentina after Salah joined Roma on a season-long deal last August.

Fiorentina claimed it had an agreement with Chelsea to extend Salah's stay. He had spent part of the previous season on loan at the Italian club.

FIFA says Fiorentina was told of the verdict on Wednesday, and will be given reasons at a later date.

In breach of contract cases, FIFA can apply sanctions of four-month bans for players and one-year bans on clubs registering new players.
