CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — The man who has served as Southeast Missouri State University's interim athletics director for nearly the past year now has the job on a permanent basis.
The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/1UouPHQ ) reports that Brady Barke will take on the new title July 1.
The university's president, Carlos Vargas, says Barke is the best choice in moving the school's sports programs ahead.
Barke served in the interim role for 11 months, filling in after Mark Alnutt accepted a deputy athletics director's job at Memphis just days after Vargas took over as president.
Barke was among three finalists out of 50 applicants.
