TOKYO (AP) — Poland clinched the first Olympic berth available at a men's volleyball qualification tournament by beating Venezuela 3-0 on Thursday.

Captain Michal Kubiak scored a team-high 13 points as Poland secured a place at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 win at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Bartosz Kurek added 11 points for Poland, which had nine blocks and four service aces.

Poland improved to 5-0 in the eight-nation tournament while Venezuela remained winless.

France beat Canada 3-0 and improved to 4-1 to move a step closer to qualifying. Iran also improved to 4-1 with a five-set win over China.

The top three teams plus the highest-ranked Asian team qualify for the Olympics. If an Asian team finishes in the top three, the next-ranked team qualifies.
