SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) — The school superintendent in Spearfish is retiring after 16 years at the helm.
KOTA television reports (http://bit.ly/22qPsZA ) that Dave Peters' retirement marks the end of a career in public education that spans 42 years.
He's planning to move to northwestern Montana to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
Peters says he's most proud of successfully navigating the many budget battles he faced during his tenure. He says he's grateful to the community for allowing him to serve.
Kirk Easton, the superintendent of schools in Lennox, is taking Peters' slot in Spearfish.
