OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Chublicious took the lead near the top of the stretch and drew off to win the $60,000 John J. Reilly Handicap at Monmouth Park on Saturday, beating Green Gratto by 1 1/2 lengths.
Ridden by Antonio Gallardo and trained by Jorge Navarro, the 5-year-old gelding ran six furlongs over the fast track in 1:09 1/5 and paid $8, $3.20 and $2.60. It was the sixth win in 13 career starts for Chublicious. He has earned $213,780.
Green Gratto paid $2.40 and $2.10, and Fuzzy Muzzle was nearly nine lengths back in third and returned $2.20.
