LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified two slain casino employees, including one fatally shot by North Las Vegas police.
The Clark County coroner on Saturday says 64-year-old Edgardo Lavado Velasquez, of North Las Vegas, was a homicide victim and 30-year-old Jeremias Cruz was fatally wounded by a police officer at the Silver Nugget casino.
Police were called to the casino around 5:45 a.m. Thursday about a beating and possible fatality.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1qBpVz8) that officers found Velasquez in an employee-only area with a head injury. He was pronounced dead.
Police spokeswoman Ann Cavaricci says police located Cruz, of Las Vegas, and that he was having a "chaotic episode."
Cruz allegedly advanced toward officers and ignored their commands.
An officer then fatally shot him.
The incident remains under investigation.
