Johnna Abrams and Chris Williams hope to simplify the car-buying process and sell cars with a different approach through their business, Salt Lake Imports. Salt Lake Imports specializes in stocking older, high-line import cars, which Johnna and Chris handpick. Many of the cars come from California and have never been driven in harsh winter conditions, so they are in excellent condition. Johnna started Salt Lake Imports in April 2002 as an eBay-based Internet business selling classic import cars. Less than a year later she moved from her warehouse location to an actual lot where she could display her cars. Chris was a silent partner in the dealership at the beginning, but after she left her job as the general manager of a large car dealership, she joined Johnna in the growing dealership.
Salt Lake Imports offers a vehicle locator service where clients can request a certain make or model, and the dealership will find it for them at a huge savings. Johnna says clients from all over the world have used this service and rave about it in online reviews. The dealership also offers a buyback guarantee for cars purchased through eBay. If a client feels the car was misrepresented in any way, he is not obligated to complete the purchase.
Only a few months ago Salt Lake Imports moved into a brand new building, designed to create a relaxing atmosphere to optimize the car-buying experience. The dealership is not only distinguished by its hand-picked car selection and its vehicle locator program, but also because it offers an incentive program for every client who refers someone else. Salt Lake Imports has been named Best of State Used Car Dealership for six years. It is also one of only a few woman-owned dealerships in the state.
