WOODSTOCK, Vt. (AP) — A superintendent of a Vermont school district says educators are rethinking its dress code after a girls-only assembly about inappropriate clothing at a middle school caused a stir last month.
The Valley News reports (http://bit.ly/1Uz9YGd ) dissatisfaction with Woodstock Union Middle School's dress code boiled over following an April 22 assembly in which female teachers addressed students about dress code violations. Parents say a teacher told the girls that violating the dress code can distract boys in class.
Windsor Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Alice Thomason Worth says it's difficult to know what was said during the meeting but it looks like a lapse in judgment.
Worth says she'd like to engage students in rewriting the policy.
She's addressing students Wednesday and will be at a forum for parents on May 11.
