LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Catholic woman fired from her job at a bottled water company led by a Nevada assemblyman filed a federal lawsuit against the business, saying she was pressured to watch videos on Scientology and was denied pay raises because of her religious beliefs. The woman filed the discrimination lawsuit against Las Vegas-based AffinityLifestyles.com, also known as Real Alkalized Water. Republican Assemblyman Brent Jones is president of the company. He declined comment.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Henderson couple accused of helping a murder suspect hide in a small-town Nevada motel room got a new court date Tuesday. Bruce Randall Oliver and Lavera Deanna Wilson have a hearing July 12 in Boulder City. They weren't asked to enter pleas. Police say Wilson rented a hotel room for a man who had been mistakenly freed from jail.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A health facility is opening up in Tonopah, nearly a year after the only hospital in the area for 100 miles closed down due to financial troubles. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the medical clinic will open June 1 at the site of the now-closed Nye Regional Medical Center.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 22-year-old has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges almost four months after the public transit bus he was driving jumped a curb, plowed through a passenger shelter and killed a 39-year-old woman on a sidewalk near the Las Vegas Strip, authorities said Tuesday. Jamal Nichols faces vehicular manslaughter and failure to stay in a driving lane charges that could get him up to a year in jail.
