WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — West Point is on track to get its first female dean.

The U.S. Military Academy says President Barack Obama has nominated Col. Cindy Jebb to be the academy's next dean of the academic board. She also has been nominated for appointment to brigadier general.

If confirmed by Congress, she will replace Brig. Gen. Tim Trainor after he retires in June.

Jebb is currently head of West Point's department of social sciences. She is a 1982 West Point graduate.
