MANASSAS, Va. (AP) — An Army staff sergeant charged with fatally shooting a police officer working her first shift asked police to shoot him immediately after his arrest.
That was the testimony of a police sergeant Tuesday at a preliminary hearing for 32-year-old Ronald Hamilton of Woodbridge.
The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1SyoSYk) that a judge found probable cause to send Hamilton's case to a grand jury for indictment on charges including capital murder.
Prosecutors say Hamilton shot and killed his wife in a domestic dispute on Feb. 27, then shot three officers responding to a 911 call. Ashley Guindon, working her first shift, died. Two other officers survived.
A sergeant testified Tuesday that Hamilton confessed to the killings. The sergeant asked Hamilton if he was trying to commit suicide by cop, which he denied.
