SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A family in southern Utah has discovered a mountain lion in a window well at their home.
KUTV reports a child found the animal at their home on the outskirts of Washington City on Monday.
The child's mother called Washington City police, and then covered the well with a board to keep the animal from escaping.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the lion is about a year-and-a-half-old male.
State wildlife officials came to the home and shot the mountain lion with a dart. It has now been released to a remote part of Washington County.
The family lives next to a large conservation area.
