SENECA, S.C. (AP) — Deputies have arrested a 19-year-old Clemson University student accused of forcing a woman to perform oral sex at an off-campus fraternity house.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that Stokes Avinger Brownlee was arrested Wednesday on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct.

A university spokeswoman says Brownlee is a freshman student at Clemson.

Authorities say the incident occurred April 15 at the Sigma Chi fraternity house in Seneca.

Sigma Chi released a statement saying Brownlee was not a member of the fraternity.

Clemson University says the Sigma Chi fraternity is not recognized by the school due to the fraternity being suspended until 2025 for violating school policies during a social event last year.

It is unclear whether Brownlee has an attorney.
