LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal magistrate judge in Las Vegas decided Wednesday that two sons of rancher Cliven Bundy who are accused of leading an armed confrontation with government officers in Nevada should remain in custody pending trial. Like 17 other co-defendants before them, Ammon Bundy and Ryan Bundy were deemed to be a danger to the community and a risk not to abide by court orders or return for hearing dates.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The federal government is designating White Pine County in Nevada has as a primary natural disaster area due to drought. An announcement Wednesday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture makes farmers and ranchers eligible for disaster assistance in White Pine and surrounding counties in Nevada and Utah.

(AP) — A growing network of cameras trained on the mountains around Lake Tahoe is changing the way crews fight Western wildfires, with early detection that triggers quicker, more tactical suppression than traditional war-like operations. The high-definition cameras can be operated remotely to pan, tilt and zoom as they search for smoke in often-remote areas.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are searching for two men who took off in a car after fatally shooting another man at a downtown Las Vegas motel. Las Vegas police say the shooting happened about 2 a.m. Wednesday at the Safari Motel.
