LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Authorities say a weekend shooting left one man dead near the University of Kentucky campus.

The Fayette County coroner's office identified the victim as 28-year-old James N. Gordon. The office says in a statement that Gordon died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Lexington police tell media outlets that a man walked up to two men outside of an apartment building and shot them early Saturday. The second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Those involved were not students. The university sent out an alert about the shooting advising students to avoid the area temporarily.

No arrests have been made.
