ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Texas Rangers have placed right fielder Shin-Soo Choo on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right calf muscle and catcher Robinson Chirinos on the 60-day DL because of a broken right forearm.

The moves were announced before Sunday's game against the Angels. Choo's injury occurred Saturday while he was running on the wet outfield grass before batting practice, and he is expected to be out four to six weeks.

Chirinos was injured during the fifth inning of the Rangers' 4-1 victory when he swung at a pitch from Garrett Richards and the ball hit him. He is expected to be sidelined 10 to 12 weeks.

Replacing them were two first-time call-ups. Twenty-year-old Nomar Mazara made his big league debut in center field and batted second after being promoted from Triple-A Round Rock. Catcher Brett Nicholas will serve as the backup to Bryan Holaday.
