NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police say a suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of former Saints defensive end Will Smith. Police say 29-year-old Cardell Hayes shot Smith last night after the two argued following a traffic accident. The 34-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith's wife was also shot and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India (AP) — More than 100 people are dead and nearly 400 injured after a massive fire swept through a Hindu temple in southern India. Officials say the fire started when a spark from an unauthorized fireworks display ignited a separate batch of fireworks being stored at the temple complex. Thousands of people had been packed into the complex when the explosion occurred.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says America is the "envy of the world," but he worries that political divisions could hold back the country. He tells "Fox News Sunday" that "this can be our century, just like the 20th century was — as long as we don't tear each other apart." He says that increasingly, Democrats and Republicans "don't hear each other" and sensationalism and conflict are valued more than cooperation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) is painting a gloomy picture for Republicans on all levels if either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz is the party's presidential nominee in November. The Ohio governor is citing "great concern" in the party — and not just about the White House race, but what happens if "we get blown out" in that contest. Under that scenario, Kasich tells CBS' "Face the Nation" that "we would lose seats all the way from the statehouse to the courthouse."

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Globe has printed a satirical front page complete with fake stories that show how "troubling" its editorial board says a Donald Trump presidency would be for America. The lead story is about Trump calling for deportations. Another article mentions work being halted on a wall at the Mexico border. In an editorial, the Globe calls the satire "an exercise in taking a man at his word."
