NEW YORK (AP) — Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom might miss his next turn in New York's rotation because of a sore muscle in his right side.
DeGrom won the Mets' home opener Friday, allowing one run and five hits over six innings during a 7-2 victory over Philadelphia.
"Still stiff, still sore today," Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday.
DeGrom said his latissimus dorsi was tight and he came out as a precaution after 76 pitches. His regular throw day between starts would be Sunday.
"If he can't do that, then there's a good possibility we'll have to find a spot starter for Wednesday," Collins said.
DeGrom did not have an MRI, according to Collins. DeGrom also would leave the team and return to his home in Florida if his wife goes into labor.
