NEW YORK (AP) — The Republicans and Democrats are turning their sights on New York, where the presidential primary will be held April 19. It marks a homecoming of sorts for three of the candidates. New York is Republican front-runner Donald Trump's turf, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton was a New York senator and rival Bernie Sanders grew up in Brooklyn. New York follows yesterday's losses by Trump and Clinton in the Wisconsin primary.
NEW YORK (AP) — Following the loss by Republican front-runner Donald Trump in yesterday's Wisconsin primary, Trump released a biting statement, calling winner Ted Cruz "worse than a puppet." Trump says, "he is a Trojan horse, being used by the party bosses attempting to steal the nomination from Mr. Trump." Democrat Hillary Clinton lost to Bernie Sanders. She congratulated him."
KANO, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria's military has opened a camp to rehabilitate Boko Haram fighters. The military says it has rescued more than 11,000 civilian hostages in attacks on Boko Haram camps and villages in Nigeria since the end of February. And it says any fighter who surrenders and is repentant receives vocational training. The military has said in the past that some Boko Haram members who have given themselves up have appeared emaciated and begged for food.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Federal officials are meeting in South Carolina today to discuss the growing problem of prison inmates using cellphones. Officials say the contraband cellphones are among the top security threats within prisons. South Carolina has sought permission to jam cellular signals at prisons, but the request has stalled before the Federal Communications Commission. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai will attend today's field hearing.
NEW (AP) — Is Janet Jackson pregnant? The 49-year-old singer says she is delaying her "Unbreakable" tour — doctor's orders. In a 46-second video clip on Twitter, Jackson says she and husband Wissam Al Mana are planning a family and that her doctors have told her to rest. Jackson did not say specifically that she is pregnant.
