WASHINGTON (AP) — Without mentioning Donald Trump by name, President Barack Obama assailed the Republican front-runner over comments that providing nuclear weapons would help South Korea and Japan and deter North Korea. When asked about the issue Friday night, Obama said, "The person who made the statements doesn't know much about foreign policy or nuclear policy or the Korean Peninsula or the world generally."
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz says nominating front-runner Donald Trump would be a train wreck. Cruz also got a boost from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, at a gathering of hundreds of Republican Party activists and insiders. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, speaking on behalf of Donald Trump, told the gathering that Trump is the only one speaking rationally about foreign policy. Walker says a Cruz win in Tuesday's primary will change the momentum.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say they've charged a father with killing his son over the younger man's sexual orientation. Police say suspect Shehada Issa claims he killed his son in self-defense because the son threatened him with a knife. No knife has been found. Police say the son was killed because he was gay. Officers found the man's body outside a house and the suspect's wife stabbed to death inside.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Another shot across the bow from North Korea. Officials in South Korea say the north fired a short-range missile into the sea and tried to jam GPS navigation signals in South Korea, hours after U.S., South Korean and Japanese leaders pledged to work closer together to prevent Pyongyang from advancing its nuclear and missile programs.
BEIJING (AP) — A man who killed nine people and injured nine others in a Chinese nursing home has been sentenced to death. The official Xinhua (shin-wah) News Agency says Luo Renchu had gathered bricks and pummeled residents at the home in the central city of Loudi following a dispute with the owners over allegedly unpaid wages.
