SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — The evaluation of the response to the San Bernardino terror attack continues today with a hearing by state lawmakers. Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez, who chairs a joint legislative committee on emergency management, has called a hearing to learn what worked in the moments after a husband-and-wife couple inspired by Muslim extremists opened fire on a Dec. 2 luncheon for county health inspectors, killing 14 people.
PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona man faces up to 45 years in prison when he's sentenced in June after being convicted Thursday of charges that he plotted an attack on a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in suburban Dallas. Prosecutors say Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem, an American-born Muslim convert, provided support and weapons for last May's event. Two friends who launched the attack were killed in a police shootout.
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — The FBI says it was a terror attack, but the agency also believes a California college student who went on a campus stabbing rampage acted alone. Faisal Mohammad wounded four people before the University of California, Merced, student was killed by a a campus police officer. Authorities say he became self-radicalized by Islamic State propaganda he found online.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — First fiery rhetoric about joint military drills between the U.S. and South Korea, and now North Korea has fired off a ballistic missile as well. Experts say the ballistic missile flew about 500 miles off the regime's coast into the sea. A U.S. official says the Pentagon has confirmed that the missile was fired from a mobile launcher.
FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — The World Health Organization and Sierra Leone's Ministry of Health and Sanitation announced the end of the recent flare-up of Ebola in the West African country. While one flare-up was declared over, two bodies tested positive for Ebola in Guinea, months after the outbreak was declared over in the West African country. An emergency meeting will be held today with the Ministry of Health.
