THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — PAOK Thessaloniki has fired coach Igor Tudor after a string of poor results and replaced him with youth team coach Vladimir Ivic.
A club statement Wednesday said another reason for Tudor's removal was that he had made "derogatory comments on the quality of the team."
In a recent news conference, the former Croatia and Juventus defender unfavorably compared key PAOK players with their opposite numbers in Olympiakos, the Greek league leader.
PAOK is fourth in the top division standings, with 38 points from 25 games.
