ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — Police in northern Ohio have charged a man with child endangering after they say his 3-year-old daughter was found wandering in the middle of a road.

Elyria police say it was the second time in as many weeks the girl was found outside by herself.

Police responded Sunday after a motorist called to report she'd found the girl in the road crying without a coat. The girl was almost a quarter mile from her home.

Police reports say the father, Christopher Peterson, showed up at the scene as he looked for the girl, who he'd realized was missing.

Police say the girl was also found outside late at night on Feb. 23.

Peterson is scheduled for a Wednesday court appearance. Online court records don't list an attorney.
