Foster and Gallagher, which owned Gurney's, Stark Brothers, Henry Fields, Michigan Bulb, Breck's Bulbs, New Holland Bulb, Spring Hill Nursery, Bear Creek, Vermont Wildflower Farm and other smaller nurseries filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed doors on June 29, 2001.
