Twenty-one watercolours and sketches thought to be by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler are to be sold in Britain in September, the auctioneers said Thursday.
The collection was apparently produced between 1916 and 1918 when the young Hitler was a corporal during the Great War.
The works are to be auctioned at Jefferys in Lostwithiel, southwest England, on September 26 and the collection is expected to fetch up to 3,000 pounds (5,600 dollars, 4,400 euros).
Jefferys said attempts to prove their authenticity were unsuccessful.
However, they carry the hallmarks of Hitler's previously seen art work and the paper dates from the right age.
Among the watercolour landscapes are one of a church on the edge of town and another of a hastily-erected barracks in pastel shades. They show little trace of the war raging around the scenes.
The auctioneers have said that the scenes had been pinpointed to within a 15-mile (25-kilometre) radius of where Hitler was stationed in France during the war.
They range from postcard size to eight inches by 10 inches (20 centimetres by 25 centimetres).
The works were found in a suitcase in an attic close to where Hitler served near the French border.
The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, contacted the auction house after reading about the sale of a single Hitler watercolour last year, the BBC reported.
