TROY, Ala. (AP) — John Walton III's layup with 10 seconds remaining lifted Troy over Georgia State 54-53 on Saturday.

Troy's Wesley Person gathered a turnover by Georgia State under the Panthers' basket. Falling out of bounds, Person found Walton in the lane, and Walton spun and put it up with the left hand off the glass for the go-ahead bucket. On the previous possession, Person had drilled a 3-pointer to draw the Trojans within one. Those were Troy's only field goals in the last 8:50 of the game.

Georgia State missed two shots on its last possession.

Walton finished with 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Troy (8-17, 3-11 Sun Belt). Person ended with 14 points and Shawn Hopkins added 11.

Jeremy Hollowell scored 22 points to pace Georgia State (13-10, 6-8). Markus Crider had 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Panthers made just 2 of 12 from beyond the arc.
