FREDERICKSBURG, Pa. (AP) — "Numerous injuries" are being reported in a pileup involving more than 50 vehicles in central Pennsylvania. A section of Interstate 78 is closed in both directions after this morning's crashes in Bethel Township. Police say troopers at the scene were calling for more ambulances.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say five people are dead after a car going the wrong way slammed head-on into an SUV on an Ohio interstate. It happened overnight on Interstate 75 in downtown Dayton. Police say the wrong-way driver had been arrested on a DUI charge two days ago. He was killed along with four people in the SUV.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Residents in a Baton Rouge, Louisiana neighborhood say they heard dozens of shots early today as police exchanged gunfire with a man they'd been pursuing. Two officers and the suspect were wounded in the confrontation. The district attorney says investigators will study video footage taken by the dashboard cameras in two police cruisers as they try to determine what happened.

MUNICH (AP) — Russia's prime minister is accusing the West of rekindling the Cold War. Dmitry Medvedev (dih-MEE'-tree med-VYEH'-dyev) told a meeting of top defense officials, diplomats and national leaders in Munich today that sanctions imposed against Russia by NATO "only aggravate" tensions. NATO's top official is disputing that. Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg (yehnz STOHL'-tehn-burg) says all of NATO's moves have been in direct response to Russian actions.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Pope Francis is telling Mexico's political leaders that those who are responsible for the common good must be honest and upright and not be seduced by privilege. In a speech to the Mexican president and government authorities, Francis said political leaders had a "particular duty" to ensure their people have adequate housing, dignified employment, food, "true justice" and a healthy and peaceful environment.
