TRONDHEIM, Norway (AP) — Peter Prevc was another leap closer to becoming the ski jumping World Cup champion with a victory in Trondheim on Wednesday.
The Slovenian produced jumps of 135 and 132 meters for a total of 285.5 points, beating Stefan Kraft of Austria into second place.
Japanese veteran Noriaki Kasai took the lead with a huge second jump of 143 meters. He had to settle for third place, though, after Kraft and Prevc delivered their final jumps in difficult conditions.
With more than half of the rounds completed, Prevc leads the standings from Severin Freund of Germany by 443 points, and Kenneth Gangnes of Norway is in third, 554 points behind.
