APOPKA, Fla. (AP) — A central Florida high school was placed on lockdown after authorities reported finding a gun in a student's backpack.
The Orlando Sentinel (http://goo.gl/ePQme2) reports that deputies arrested a 17-year-old student Tuesday afternoon at Wekiva High School near Apopka.
Principal Michele Erickson said in a recorded message to parents that another student saw the gun and told an adult.
No injuries were reported. It wasn't immediately clear why the student had the gun, but it was never used in a threatening manner.
