BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The president of Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire has been named as the next leader of Louisiana State University's law school.
The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1PWXPUm ) reports that Thomas Galligan Jr. was named dean of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center on Thursday and will start July 1 after having taught at the campus 18 years ago.
LSU President F. King Alexander said in a statement that he expects Galligan will help expand the school's opportunities for its students.
Galligan has served as Colby-Sawyer College's president since 2006. The school's website says that Galligan previously was dean and professor of law at the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville and was a law professor at the LSU Law Center from 1986 to 1998.
Former Chancellor Jack Weiss stepped down in July.
