BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — ESPN reporter Holly Rowe says she is undergoing surgery to remove a tumor.

Rowe had surgery in May to remove a tumor in her chest, and she said in a statement released by the network Tuesday that a new tumor had recently been found.

Rowe says she is having surgery Tuesday and "in the coming days, I will know more about what potential additional steps I may take to address this situation."

She thanks colleague Shelley Smith for her guidance after Smith went through her own cancer treatments. Rowe adds: "I hope to be back at work soon doing what gives me so much joy in life."

Rowe joined ESPN on a regular basis in 1998 and primarily covers college football, college basketball and softball. Prior to ESPN, the University of Utah graduate worked for several news outlets in the Salt Lake City area, including KSL NewsRadio and KBYU. She also served as the play-by-play analyst for the WNBA's Utah Starzz before the franchise moved to San Antonio.
