OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A former medical assistant in Roy is facing charges that she wrote hundreds of fake painkiller prescriptions.
The Standard-Examiner in Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1lIk094) that 37-year-old Lori Hoskins is in Weber County Jail.
She faces suspicion of insurance fraud, forgery of a prescription for a controlled substance and identity fraud.
According to a probable cause statement filed in court, a doctor filling a prescription for Hoskins' mother-in-law found the woman already had a prescription for a large amount of Oxycodone.
A subsequent Drug Enforcement Agency investigation found that Hoskins allegedly used a doctor's computer password to fill out prescriptions.
Investigators say she admitted to writing up 260 fraudulent prescriptions in the names of her mother-in-law, husband and herself.
She will appear in court Feb. 3.
