RENO, Nev. (AP) — Newly released data show that 40 people died on the job in Nevada in 2014. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the Bureau of Labor Statistics data says five of the deaths were homicides and four were suicides. The manufacturing industry had the largest number of deaths in the state with seven. Construction, government and leisure and hospitality jobs were second with six deaths each.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — UNLV has finalized a $50 million deal to expand its campus by 42 acres. The Las Vegas Sun reports the school closed the deal on the empty parcel north of McCarran airport and near the Las Vegas Strip. It's still undetermined what will be built on the land. One option is to build a new stadium there, while another option is creating a campus village.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Las Vegas area church pastor who became an international fugitive on accusations that he sexually assaulted girls in his congregation has been found guilty. A jury has found 59-year-old Otis Holland guilty of 15 felony charges, including child sexual assault and lewdness. Holland faces life in prison with sentencing scheduled for March 16. His attorney couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Attorney General Adam Laxalt has filed a formal request that the Nevada Supreme Court speed up a decision about the state's halted school choice program. The voucher-style program allows parents to claim more than $5,000 in state per-pupil school funds each year and use it for private school tuition. Opponents argue the Republican-backed program unconstitutionally diverts money from public schools.
