PRAGUE (AP) — The winning horse of last year's 125th edition of the Velka Pardubicka steeplechase has tested positive for caffeine and theobromine and will be likely stripped of the victory.

The Czech Jockey Club says the results of the "B'' sample confirmed the initial positive test.

Jockey Club president Jiri Charvat says the club has to disqualify the winning horse, Nikas. It is to rule in the case by the end of January.

Ribelino, who finished second in the Oct. 11 race, would take the trophy.

It is the first time the winner of the race has tested positive for doping. The 6.9-kilometer (4.3-mile) race is considered one of the toughest in Europe.
