GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — Adrian Rodgers scored 23 points with three steals, and Christopher Hyder added 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, with seven rebounds, four assists and career-high tying six steals to help Southern beat Mississippi Valley State 67-54 Monday night.
MVSU took a 3-0 lead before Southern scored 12 in a row to take the lead for good.
The Jaguars (12-7, 4-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) hit all of their seven 3-pointers, and made 15 of 31 field goals, in the first half and led 38-25 at the break. Rodgers hit three 3-pointers and had 11 points in the first half.
A layup by Rodgers gave Southern its biggest lead, 48-30, with 15:18 to play.
Latrell Love made a jumper and then two free throws to cap a 12-0 run by MVSU (2-17, 2-3) that trimmed its deficit to six about five minutes later, but the Delta Devils got no closer.
Kylan Phillips led MVSU with 13 points.
