LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A 28-year-old Idaho man is in serious condition at a hospital in Spokane, Washington, following a shootout with police. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Joseph Case, of Lewiston, was shot in a brief gunfight with Nez Perce County sheriff's deputies. Authorities say Case was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant when they tried to pull him over.

DENVER (AP) — Suspicion over federal plans to restore endangered wolves in the Southwest has spread to Colorado and Utah, where ranchers and officials are fiercely resisting any attempt to import the predators. About 110 Mexican gray wolves roam parts of Arizona and New Mexico. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service released 11 wolves there about 20 years ago after the population nearly vanished. The agency hopes to complete a recovery plan for the Mexican wolf in 2017.

SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — One man is dead and three people injured following a head-on crash on a snowy highway west of Sandpoint. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that Tyler Bartlett lost control of his Subaru Forrester on Highway 2 Saturday and struck an oncoming Honda CRV. The driver of the other vehicle, 57-year-old Joel P. Slover, and his passenger, 55-year-old Lorraine M. Slover, both of Newport, were taken to Bonner General Hospital.

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Trey Kennedy scored 18, including two free throws with 14 seconds left in overtime, and Southern Utah beat Idaho 85-83 this weekend. Race Parsons scored 15 and James McGee hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Southern Utah (4-11, 2-3 Big Sky Conference), which snapped a three-game skid. Victor Sanders scored 29 for Idaho.
