ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Will Kelly had 13 of his 17 points in the second half and Navy won its fifth straight on Saturday night with an 87-61 win over Lafayette.
This is Navy's first five-game winning streak in league play since 2008. Kelly's dunk with 7:50 left gave the Midshipmen (14-5, 5-1 Patriot) their largest lead at 73-45 and ended a 33-9 stretch since the start of the second half.
Tim Abruzzo, Edward Alade and Kendall Knorr added 11 points each and Tom Lacey had 10 points. The Mids shot 21 of 32 from the field after the break and finished with a season-high nine 3-pointers.
Lafayette (5-12, 2-4) cut the deficit to 38-36 with a 9-2 run late in the first half. Alade scored for Navy to take a four-point lead into the break.
Matt Klinewski had 17 points, Nick Lindner scored 15 and Monty Boykins 10 for the Leopards.
