OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Third baseman Danny Valencia has agreed to terms on a $3.15 million, one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics to avoid arbitration.
Valencia reached his deal Thursday, the team announced.
Valencia joined Oakland on Aug. 3 when he was claimed off waivers after beginning the year with the Blue Jays. He batted .284 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs in 47 games for the A's and hit a combined .290 with a career-best 18 homers and 66 RBIs in 105 games between the two clubs.
Right fielder Josh Reddick and right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez are Oakland's remaining arbitration-eligible players.
