KUANTAN, Malaysia, Jul 25, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A Malaysian princess was stabbed to death by her youngest son, who died a few hours later of an apparent drug overdose, a report says.

Princess Kamaria Sultan Abu Bakar was trying to protect her husband, Prince Ismal Sulaiman, when she was killed, the BBC said. Police in Kuantan said they found a knife and corkscrew at the scene of the crime and arrested the couple's son, Shahzan.

The prince suffered serious injuries in the attack.

Both the princess and her husband are members of Malaysia's nine royal families. The princess was the half-sister of the Sultan of Pahang, and her son was the sultan's nephew.

Witnesses said that the son appeared to be on drugs when he attacked his parents.
