CHICAGO (AP) — The Cook County Medical Examiner's office reports an autopsy has determined hypothermia is the cause of death of a 90-year-old Chicago woman found dead just outside her house in the city's Chatham neighborhood early Monday.
At the time Nellie Gordon's body was found, temperatures were in the single digits. A relative discovered her lying in a walkway near her front door.
In addition to hypothermia, the medical examiner's office on Tuesday listed Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease among the causes of Gordon's death.
Authorities say the woman had on a coat and her purse was with her when her body was found. A key was found in the front door.
Relatives say Gordon was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2012.
