SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — State investigators contend a Spokane oncologist lied about his failure to pass medical board exams and falsified his certification status as he continued to treat cancer patients.
Dr. Rajeev Rajendra has several months to answer a Washington Medical Quality Assurance Commission complaint alleging unprofessional conduct.
The Spokesman-Review reported Tuesday that Rajendra worked at Medical Oncology Associates from 2013 through last November.
Rajendra received his medical degree from a college in India and completed a fellowship at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and a residency in internal medicine at Indiana University. But the state says he twice failed a board examination, once in 2013 and again in 2014.
The commission says he presented the clinic a falsified document indicating he'd passed.
Rajendra declined to comment.
