MALLORCA, Spain (AP) — Two-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome has signed a new contract with Team Sky until the end of 2018.
Froome made the announcement Tuesday, writing on his Twitter account: "Looking forward to many more successes together!"
The 30-year-old Froome, who was recently made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire after becoming the first Briton to win a second Tour de France, is planning to defend his title this year before competing at the Olympics.
Froome joined Sky in 2010 and signaled himself as potential Grand Tour winner with a runner-up finish at the 2011 Spanish Vuelta. He finished second behind Bradley Wiggins at the 2012 Tour de France and took over as the team's leader the year after, securing his first win at cycling's showpiece race.
