NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kyle Hittle scored 27 points with six rebounds and Incarnate Word edged New Orleans 71-68 on Monday.

Hittle was 8 of 15 from the field — including four 3-pointers — and 7 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Cardinals (7-7, 2-1 Southland). Derail Green added 10 points, making all eight of his free throw attempts.

New Orleans (5-9, 1-2) was led by Kevin Hill with 18 points. Erik Thomas scored 10 points with eight rebounds.

Incarnate Word led by six with 3:19 left, but New Orleans got a 3-pointer by Cameron Reed, then Tevin Broyles made a pair of layups to put UNO up 68-67 with 1:12 left.

Hittle made a pair from the line, and after UNO's Travin Thibodeaux missed a pair, Jontrell Walker made two free throws with 12 seconds left. UNO's Christavious Gill missed a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left. Gill, UNO's leading scorer — who averages over 14 points — was 2-of-11 shooting with eight points.
