CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — The father of a 3-year-old boy found dead in a New Jersey park last year has been charged with his murder.
Camden County prosecutors say David Creato Jr. also faces a child endangerment charge in the death of Brendan Creato. The child's body was found Oct. 13 in Cooper River Park about three hours after his 22-year-old father reported him missing from his Haddon Township home.
According to a 911 call, the father told authorities he woke up that morning and realized Brendan was gone.
Creato was arrested Monday. He's due to be arraigned Tuesday, and his bail hasn't yet been set.
Prosecutors declined to comment further.
Richard Fuschino Jr. is an attorney representing the boy's father. He tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that he will "vigorously" defend his client.
